About UsPeggy Eldred-Eserkaln
Peggy Eldred-Eserkaln has been involved with celebrating the creative side of kids and adults since 1991. She graduated from UW Milwaukee in 1991 with a Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology (a fancy way of saying that she knows the ins and outs of how people talk and can help people talk better if they are having trouble communicating). Green Bay became Peggy's home when she landed a job with the Green Bay Public Schools in 1992. Over the next six years she provided therapy and support to middle and high school students at Lombardi and Edison Middle School, Preble, West and Southwest High School often team teaching with other professionals in various content areas. Meanwhile, Peggy also began practicing and performing improvisational comedy with ComedyCity (formerly ComedySportz) Green Bay in 1992. She quickly recognized the positive impact that improvisational skills had on the learning process. She took what she was learning as an improviser and applied it to the various curriculums she was teaching at the secondary level with overwhelming positive results, inspiring her to develop an entire business out of providing kids, teachers, and corporations with Educational Improvisation Programs. The summer of 1996 Kids Camp was the starting point. Forty kids signed on to learn improvisational skills and boost their self-esteem and creative juices. It was the beginning of a booming business venture that continues to expand today. The Educational Improvisation Summer Program alone now registers nearly 300 students. By 1996 the Educational Improvisation Department of ComedyCity was in full swing with a full array of programs for schools and businesses including presentations at individual schools, districts, and state conventions. Corporations also began realizing the positive power that improvisational skills have on a company's success and came calling. Needless to say, in 1998 Peggy took leave from her GBPS position to foster and grow the business. She expanded the Educational Improvisation Programs to include year long middle and high school age improvisational performance leagues. She also added more opportunities for educators to learn about Educational Improvisation, filmed and released a video, launched the Mentorship Program, and increased the availability of programs by hiring a competent, enthusiastic staff. The expansion of Educational Improvisation has allowed Peggy to focus her energies on improving and developing even more programs. A grant writing project will hopefully culminate in offering At Risk children an opportunity to learn through Educational Improvisation. More video programs are being developed and the Teacher Oasis Programs are nearly a reality. And that's just the 'school' side of what Peggy continues to do. In the business world the Educational Improvisation Programs has provided workshops for folks such as Kimberly-Clark, WPS, Schneider National even a co-facilitated workshop for Nike. In October of 2000 the Green Bay Packers brought ComedyCity Green Bay on board to provide a series of workshops to the players and their families on improving communication skills and adapting to change. Today, Peggy can be found creating and facilitating programs in various cities or performing regularly on the ComedyCity Green Bay stage or hiding in her backyard growing a garden or entertaining herself by watching any video containing Snoopy.
